The season of Lent has now begun. Lent is, for all of us, an opportunity, a God-given opportunity, to draw closer to the Lord. There are many ways in which we can draw closer to the Lord, we can do so by making more time to pray, or by reading the scriptures, or perhaps attending Mass every Sunday, if that is not our usual practise. Or it could be doing something extra, such as making time for others, particularly those who may need our help.
It could also be doing some little things, such as coming on time to Mass, or not leaving early, but spending a few minutes in quiet prayer afterwards. Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly, so that you do grow in your relationship with Jesus.
LENT GROUPS:
As in previous years, there will be groups meeting during the five weeks leading up to Easter, beginning in the week 10th March. These meetings will be morning/afternoon /evening with every effort being made to suit individual wishes. The groups are friendly and welcoming and will be following the programme, ‘We dare to Hope’. We shall pray, read, reflect and share. There will be no pressure on anyone to share.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS:
The traditional devotion of the Stations of the Cross will be taking place each week during Lent. Assisted by our lovely Stations, this is a good way to remind ourselves of the Lord’s journey to Calvary, and of all that he suffered, out of love for us. The Stations of the Cross will take place on the Wednesdays of Lent at 7.00pm, starting next Wednesday, March 12th.
LENTEN ALMS:
This Holy Year invites us to be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. During Lent we are asked to donate, what we save through our self-denial, to the Lenten Alms, also known, in our Diocese, as ‘the Cardinal’s Appeal’. Your contributions will help fund vital projects across our Diocese, including Youth & Evangelisation, Social Action, Marriage & Family Life, and Catholic Education Initiatives. Donation envelopes are available today in the porch, and you can also contribute online using the QR code. You can also make your donation in the collection box, near to our Lady’s Altar.
REPOSITORY DAY BY DAY BOOKS:
We have in stock the DAY BY DAY Lent books for adults and children (infants & juniors) and these can be purchased from the Repository for £1 each. They are a lovely accompaniment for each day during Lent.
