Join the Choir!

Do you love to sing?  Want to be part of something uplifting and joyful? Whether you’re a seasoned singer or just love music, there’s a place for you:

CHORISTERS AGED 8-18:
Choristers join as Probationers after they have made their First Holy  Communion.  They can join at any age after this; some join in Year 4 and others into secondary school.  Choristers rehearse on Thursday evenings during term time 7.00-8.00pm in the organ loft.  Full training in sight reading and singing is part of the rehearsal schedule, and the choristers sing at 11.30am Mass every other Sunday and on all major Feast Days.

Choristers sing at the First Holy Communion and Confirmation Masses. They sing at the Advent and Carol Services and at Concerts held throughout the year.  Sometimes Choristers are asked to sing at weddings and for these occasions they are paid a small fee for their singing.

Medals are awarded for service to the choir, and these are awarded each November to help celebrate the feast of St Cecilia, the Patron Saint of Music.

THE ADULT CHOIR:
This is a non-auditioned SATB choir who rehearse each Thursday 8.00-9.00pm in the organ loft.  They sing at 11.30am Mass every other week and on all Feast Days, the Advent, and Carol Services and at Concerts. Members of the Adult Choir also sing at Weddings and Funerals and support many Parish Events.  Support and training is given to anyone joining so that reading music becomes second nature.
